Steven G. Schwartz

    STEVEN G. SCHWARTZ has served as trial counsel in many jury and non-jury cases involving insurance first and third party defense matters, coverage litigation, commercial disputes, construction/engineering matters, computer technology actions as well as personal injury and wrongful death claims throughout Florida and in numerous other state and federal courts in many regions of the country since the late 1970's.  Mr. Schwartz is an honors graduate, Phi Beta Kappa, of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (1975) and received his Juris Doctorate law degree from the Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia (1978).  Mr. Schwartz is listed in Who's Who of American Lawyers.  His extensive civil litigation and commercial practice includes trials, arbitrations and appellate work in the areas of insurance, products liability, software problems, professional liability, contracts, admiralty and intellectual property infringement matters.  He has handled numerous jury trials to verdict and has also argued before many appellate Courts in first party/coverage, third party defense and commercial litigation cases in all Florida appellate Courts as well as many other trial and appeals courts jurisdictions.  Mr Schwartz also handles various business matters and litigation for many professional athletes in Major League Baseball and the National Football League.

    Mr. Schwartz began his law practice in Norfolk, Virginia with the oldest continuing firm in that state and later, in the 1980's served as Insurance Claims Manager, Vice President and General Counsel of Boat Owners Association of the United States (BOAT/U.S.) in Alexandria, Virginia, before relocating to South Florida in 1991.

    Prior to founding this law firm in 2001, Mr. Schwartz was a senior partner of another civil litigation firm in Boca Raton for over ten years.  He is a member of the Bars of the Supreme Courts of Florida, Virginia and Maryland with admissions to the Federal Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the Trial Bar for the Southern District; the District of Maryland; the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia; the appellate federal courts for the Eleventh, Fifth, Second, and Fourth Circuits; the U.S. Claims Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.  He has appeared before each of the District Appeals Courts in Florida on multiple occasions.  In addition by way of special admission to assist the firm's wide-ranging client base wherever their legal problems may arise, Mr. Schwartz has handled complex litigation in a number of other state and federal jurisdictions over the years, including Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, California, Colorado, Wisconsin, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Puerto Rico the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.  As part of his admiralty practice, he has also appeared before the U.S. Coast Guard and Admiralty Law Judges in various ports on vessel collision inquiries, captain license reviews, oil spills and other marine safety investigations.  He has handled marine insurance coverage cases and yacht salvage disputes in many regions of the country and before London arbitrators.

    Mr. Schwartz is a member of the Bar Associations of Florida, Virginia and Maryland; the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, Maritime Law Association, Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and local bar associations.

    He was born in Newark, New Jersey.  His wife, Elizabeth, is the law firm's Office Manager.  They have two sons; both reside in Florida.
