Robert S. Horwitz

    ROBERT S. HORWITZ has a statewide commercial and insurance litigation practice with a focus on liability and first party property claims including complex commercial and construction defect cases, homeowners' claims, mold remediation, personal injury, wrongful death and business disputes.  He has also briefed and argued before various Florida District Courts of Appeals on insurance defense and commercial matters.  Mr. Horwitz is a graduate of Boston University, School of Management, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1993) and recipient of the Wall Street Journal Achievement Award.  He received his Juris Doctorate law degree in 1998 from the Shepard Broad Law Center, Nova Southeastern University, graduating cum laude.  While earning his law degree, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Robert S. Zack, Broward County Judge, in Fort Lauderdale.

    In addition to general civil trial work and premises liability litigation, Mr. Horwitz provides advisiory risk management counseling and litigation supervision for several self-insured risk retention programs for regional and national residential property management organizations.  Mr. Horwitz also provides case management and insurance coverage advice to both corporate and insurance institutions.

    Prior to joining Mr. Schwartz in the formation of the Firm, Mr. Horwitz was an associate with him at a Boca Raton civil litigation firm for several years.  He is a member of both the Florida and Maryland State Bars and admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts for both states.  He is a member of the Bar Associations for the states of Florida and Maryland with admissions to the Federal Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.  Appearing by special admission, Mr. Horwitz has also handled litigation matters in California, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Colorado.  His is also a member of the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Section.  He has appeared in a number of appellate proceedings in the various Florida District Courts of Appeal as well.

    Before pursuing a law degree, Mr. Horwitz was a top salesman for one of Georgia's largest wireless and telephone communications companies.  He is a second generation lawyer - his father has a workers compensation /personal injury practice based in Baltimore where  Mr. Horwitz was born.
